The original
cringe is the 2003 compiler — the ancestor of everything else on this site. It descends from Eric Raymond's ick and asks only that, before use, you distribute it to a minimum of three (3) other individuals who in turn accept the terms of the BILGE.
License
The Basic INTERCAL License Grant for Extensibility (BILGE). Your use of the software constitutes questionable judgement as well as full or partial acceptance of all terms. It is preserved here as a historical artifact and remains in working order — an outcome its author declines to take credit for.
Status
Superseded by churn (2026), but never retired. It compiles. It was not asked to.
